As the final day of racing has come, the Klock Werks team is on the Salt and in line as we speak. Here is the most recent update from Brian from the Salt this morning:
Greetings from the "hurry up and wait game" that is Bonneville Salt Flat racing. They ran a record 363 passes was the unofficial word we got yesterday but the wait time was still 2 hours plus early in the morning. The wind is up right now so things are on hold waiting for them to go down. Think about what even 10 mph of wind does at 100 plus miles an hour on two wheels, we are okay with the wait.
Wednesday saw Karlee get a medallion for the 150 mph club and she set an unofficial (for now) record at over 150 with her ProCharger powered Dyna in just 8 runs. Pretty impressive if you consider the bike was built in 5 days, marginally tuned, and she didn't ride it until we got here. She is so funny as she explained that it was only turning 4000 RPM in 5th gear! That leaves plenty of room for growth on the "Dyna-MITE" and you might want to be on the watch for a Team Klock Werks painted Flat Black and Red as she will be taking it to the streets complete with clip-ons and rearsets as that is how this short spitfire of a daughter rolls.
Chris Degen also made the factory proud by piloting a Dyna dubbed "Dyna-MO" that ran in production class. The bike is owned by Chris Meeks, our CFO, and now is an unofficial holder of the top time in the production 1650 class for that 96" 6 Speed ride that was painted in team colors and rocking an Interstate Battery of course! Great tuning and tweaking pushed Chris Degen to a best of 131 mph on that street bike. Lots of people were very impressed with that number and for Chris' first passes on the salt - he can be proud! This accomplishment again speaks volumes for the team efforts and the talents in our community.
Erika at age 19 has now just set her FOURTH land speed record following verification as her skills have improved. She pushed that XB-9 Buell to a new high of 138 mph and it too was torn down with the "Dyna-MO" yesterday to verify the engine and go through a tech inspection. She is being honored by her younger sister Karlee (16) with the privilege of making a pass on that supercharged "Dyna-MITE" Lowrider. She is 4 up in line and anticipation sets in.
Laura is having fun promoting fun, the salt and her Vision as soooo many questions come about what is that. It’s fun to watch, she is such a den mother of this whole event and the salt. Today is our anniversary and I couldn't be more blessed than to spend it with my lovely wife and beautiful step daughters. Proud papa moments and prouder husband for sure!!
Tiadra is within 6 miles an hour and now maybe has ten passes under her belt at the young age of 13! She is doing amazing. This is no small feat, ask Chris Degen when we get home. Her 250 Kawasaki Ninja has served her well thus far and has been a great learning experience.
Michelle has run a personal best in the partial streamlined class at 145 mph and has set an unofficial mark with our 2002 Yamaha Warrior flying team colors. Ti has a great example for a mom.
Erika is now 2 away, Laura follows her, and Michelle and Tiadra are staged so more later...Brian
Stay tuned for pictures and final results...
