Indian Motorcycle Reveals New Models At Sturgis


Indian Motorcycle’s entire 2011 Indian Chief Motorcycle lineup is on display in Sturgis for the 70th annual motorcycle rally. Indian Motorcycle is presenting the new 2011 Chief Blackhawk and Dark Horse colors to the public for the first time. Indian Motorcycle accessories are also on display and apparel is available for purchase. The Indian Motorcycle event truck is located at 4th andLazelle Street in downtown in Sturgis.
    Inspired by the Art Deco era, the Blackhawk and Blackhawk Dark are special edition Chief models new for 2011. The Blackhawk comes in Thunder Black with Ivory Cream and Indian Red custom detailing. The Blackhawk Dark comes in Thunder Black with Indian Red custom detailing. Both Blackhawk models feature hard bags, custom paint scheme, seat cowling with rider backrest, mini front fairing, new low seat, the new Michelin Commander II tires and accessory Garmin GPS. MSRP for the Chief Blackhawk
and Blackhawk Dark is $29,999.
    The Chief Dark Horse is a dark and sinister motorcycle available in new gloss finishes of Thunder Black and Indian Red, as well as a smoke “matte” finish available in Thunder Black, Indian Red and Deep Water Blue. The colored headdress on the tank is a new twist on the colored versions of the past. The dark components on the bike including the blacked out headlight, tappet blocks, suspension, engine components, exhaust system, and hand controls make the remaining chrome components stand out. The Dark Horse is priced at $27,999.
    The Chief Classic is the entry level Chief, and is the only Chief model that comes standard with short fenders. The long fender is now an available factory option for the Classic model in 2011. The Classic features the Indian script tank logo and is available in standard Indian Red or Thunder Black. Optional colors are Dark Water Blue or Starlight Silver. The price starts at $25,999.
    All 2011 Chiefs feature 110th anniversary badging as well as 110th anniversary speedometer gauge. All models also feature the American-made 105 cubic inch PowerPlus V-Twin power train with electronic closed loop sequential port fuel injection. Engine cylinders are Nikasil plated and the stainless steel exhaust system is an integrated 3-way catalytic converter with heated oxygen sensors. A six-speed Baker transmission delivers power through the belt drive. Stopping is achieved through updated Brembo 4-
piston calipers, with 11.5” dual rotors up front. Standard 5.5-gallon fuel tank helps extend cruising range. Seats are all-leather and built to exacting specifications.
    In celebration of the 110th anniversary of the brand, Indian Motorcycle has a display area of vintage Indian Motorcycles at their Sturgis event truck. These vintage motorcycles were selected earlier this year to represent the historic past of the company. Indian Motorcycle is also inviting all 1901- 2010 Indian owners to park their motorcycles, VIP-style at the at the 4th and Lazelle Street location.
