Bay Area Harley Dealer Settle Sex-Bias Suit

A Bay Area motorcycle dealer will pay $55,000 to settle a sex-discrimination suit by a woman who said she dreamed of being a Harley-Davidson mechanic since she was 9 and "saw a picture of Janis Joplin sitting on a chopper."


The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued Dudley Perkins Co., the nation's oldest Harley dealer, on behalf of Bowen Dean Black Swan in 2008. The suit accused the company of unfairly denying Black Swan a job as a mechanic and firing her when she complained
