Picking Up the Pieces At J&P After Storm

Cleanup was still in progress following J&P Cycles’ 35th Open House Rally when the unexpected happened. Without much warning, damaging straight line winds, reaching speeds of 75 to 80 miles per hour, tore through the J&P Cycles retail store and warehouse distribution center in Anamosa, Iowa.
Much of the damage occurred when strong winds blew the extended showroom tent directly into the south end of the building and onto the roof around 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The tent was filled with merchandise and thousands of customers just days before.
Several windows were blown out of the building, employee cars were damaged, the roof was punctured by the tent’s frame and pallets of product lay damaged in front of the showroom, but thankfully no one was hurt. All employees were ordered to designated storm shelter areas shortly after 3 p.m.
