A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson Family of Dealerships turns 100!
America's Oldest Harley Dealer will celebrate its 100th birthday on Sunday, February 26th, 2012. Alfred D. Farrow, the founder and namesake behind A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson was among the pioneering men who helped established Harley-Davidson Motor Company. A.D. Farrow's shop originated in Nelsonville, Ohio and eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1924 with the dealership being operated by both A.D. Farrow and his wife Lillian.
As stewards of America's Oldest Harley Dealer, the company and its associates recognize the motivations that led A.D. Farrow to start the company 100 years ago: the love of motorcycles, the people who rode them, and the places they would see on those machines.
From a storefront in Nelsonville to one of the largest investments in people, inventory, and facilities in the Harley-Davidson world the company has continually strived to grow and serve the motorcycling community. While the company is heavily involved in events surrounding the motorcycling world, A.D. Farrow Co. is also cognizant of the ability to serve the non-motorcycling community as well through several charitable donations.
The company has been heavily involved in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Columbus, donating thousands of dollars to the race as well as instigating the famous Thunder Tunnel. Motorcyclists gather along a portion of the route to rev their engines and cheer on race contestants. Contributions to military causes hold a special place in A.D. Farrow Company's heart, the company hosts the annual Ohio Fallen Heroes Motorcycle Ride and Rally honoring those whom have lost their lives in the war on terror. Training current Lima Co. Marines, with their Rider's Edge Safety Course, to ensure that each marine stays safe while riding on base was a task the company undertook wholeheartedly.
These contributions have won A.D. Farrow Co. the prestigious Conway Family Business Center "Community Engagement Award. Dealer Principal Bob Althoff claims, "We sometimes lead, sometimes follow, but always are the glue as our big hearted and generous motorcyclists step up to support yet another worthwhile cause."
A.D. Farrow Co. prides itself on making dream comes true. The proof in this lies in the simple fact that the company has sold more motorcycles in the past 8 years than it has in the past ninety-two years combined. In addition to a plethora of bike sales the company has been recognized as a Top 100 Dealer by the industry's most prestigious award, the Dealernews Top 100. The Farrow Family operated the dealership until Pat and Al Doerman purchased it in 1983. Current Dealer Principal Bob Althoff and his wife Valerie Althoff purchased the Company in 2002 and have piloted the dealership to this monumental day.
The company plans to celebrate being America's Oldest Harley Dealer with a spectacular series of events, including a 100th Anniversary Save the Date Party at the Bluestone on February 26th. The Party will serve as a Save the Date Reminder for a series of BIG events occurring June 13th-23rd
