Avon Tyres To Celebrate Centenary In Style in 2011

Press Release:

Avon Motorcycle Tyres North America is pleased to celebrate 100 years of manufacturing excellence in 2011. The history of Avon Tyres began in 1885 when the company was founded in Melksham, Wilthsire, England in a converted cloth mill. What began as a rubber goods factory was expanded to manufacture motorcycle tires in 1911.

Avon Motorcycle Tyres manufactures a wide variety of tire products including sport, touring and high performance racing tires. Avon was the first UK-based tire maker to be awarded the BS5750, now ISO 9001 certification, and innovation in tire products is still the driving force behind the company’s success. Over the years, the company has earned 13 Supersport Class and four Production Class Championships as well as The Isle of Man TT title on both two and three wheels. Those selecting Avon as the tire of choice include famous-name racers like Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Barry Sheene, and
Mike Duff.
“It’s remarkable to think that Avon Tyres has been producing exceptional tire products for a century,” said Graham Matcham, Avon’s Global Motorcycle Sales Manager.  “We have a rich heritage, and our current product line encompasses every class of motorcycle and scooter tires. Throughout our 100 years in the industry, we’ve continued to push the boundaries of product design. Our focus remains our customers, whether they are the end-user or the dealer. We will continue to produce quality products that represent a great value.”
Throughout the year, the company will be announcing a number of special activities and events in celebration of this important milestone, including completion of a custom-built anniversary motorcycle with an extensive list of sponsors and custom paint by renowned airbrush artist Carlos Avelar.
